Detailed Itinerary
Cusco – Huatata – Maras Salt Mines – Moray – Pachar – Cusco / Sacred Valley
Hotel pickup in Cusco
The tour begins at 8:30 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We travel by private tourist transportation for approximately one hour to the cycling starting point in the Andean community of Huatata.
First biking section: Huatata – Maras Salt Mines
From Huatata, we start the first section of the biking adventure, riding approximately 15 km toward the Maras Salt Mines (Salineras de Maras). This section is around 90% downhill, making it ideal for enjoying the ride while taking in spectacular scenery. Along the way, you will enjoy impressive views of the Andes mountain range and the Sacred Valley landscapes.
Visit to the Maras Salt Mines
Upon arrival, we stop to explore the famous Salineras de Maras, an ancient salt production site that has been used since pre-Inca times and remains active today.
Transfer to Moray archaeological site
After the visit, our private transportation will take us to the Moray archaeological site, avoiding uphill cycling and ensuring a comfortable transition between activities.
Guided visit to Moray
At Moray, you will enjoy a guided tour of this remarkable Inca site, known for its circular terraces that were used as an agricultural research center during the Inca Empire.
Second biking section: Moray – Pachar
The second cycling section begins at Moray and continues for approximately 17 km toward the village of Pachar, where the biking route ends. This part of the tour is about 85% downhill, offering a smooth and enjoyable ride through stunning landscapes with panoramic views of the Andean Cordillera and surrounding valleys.
Return to Cusco or drop-off in the Sacred Valley
From Pachar, we return by private transportation to Cusco. Alternatively, we can drop you off at your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas or Ollantaytambo, depending on your travel plans.
