Discovering Perú – 11 Days

Discovering Peru has been carefully designed  itinerary in order to experience the most imprecive of Perú. Only in 11 days this tour will take you to the essentials of the Southern Peru. Explore the heart of the Inkan civilization with the ancient Cusco capital of the Inka state, the sacred valley of the Inkas one of the most beautiful scenarios in the whole country, the great lost Inca citadel of Machupicchu, the mythical Lake Titicaca the highest navigable lake in South America and the amazing floating islands with the Uros people still showing remains of the Aymara civilization (developed centuries before the Inkan culture), the Colca Canyon one of the deepest in South America where the Andean Condors (the largest flying bird in the world) show all their majesty, Pampa Cañahuas and Aguada Blanca where we have the largest concentration of South American camelids the Vicuña, an endangered specie that is easily spotted here as its well protected.

Itinerary

DAY 1: LIMA

Reception by one of our representatives at the airport and transfer to Lima Wasi hotel located in Miraflores an exclusive residential and upscale shopping district, overnight at the Hotel.

If your arrival to Lima city is in the morning, AITA PERU can organize a guided tour in the monumental Lima with its bustling metropolis and one of South America’s largest cities.

DAY 02: LIMA – CUSCO

In the morning transfer to Lima Airport and flight to Cusco.

Arrival to Cusco city, transfer to the hotel and check in at the San Agustin International hotel. In the afternoon, you will visit the city of Cusco that was once the capital of the Inka state and still remains as one of the most well preserved pre-Colombian cities in Latin America, walking through narrow streets such as Intikikllu street (Loreto street), hatun rumiyoq (the famous stone of 12 angles), San Blas neighbourhood a traditional district in Cusco gathering remarkable Cusquenian artists, San Pedro market, if you really want to know how people are, it is best you see what people eat, San Pedro market won’t disappoint. Also, today we will visit Saqsayhuaman an impressive fortress with megalithic stone blocks that undoubtedly make this place unique. Overnight at the hotel.

Note: It is possible to replace this tour with a visit of the Inkan sites of Qoricancha, Saqsayhuaman, Tambomachay, Pukapukara, Q’enqo with vehicle.

DAY 3. – SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS – MARAS MORAY

Today we visit the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, we start the experience by visiting Chinchero with its vast ancestral market and ancient textile crafts, then we visit Moray which was an experimental centre for agriculture, Maras salt mines where inhabitants of the valley still harvest with ancestral methods, we stop for lunch at Urubamba town, in the afternoon we visit Ollantaytambo, very well known as the last Inka bastion during the fights against the Spanish conquerors during the Spanish conquest. Overnight in Samanapaq hotel.

DAY 04: Machupicchu – Cusco  

In the morning, we head towards Machupicchu Pueblo (old Aguas Calientes town) by train with the Urubamba River alongside, from Machupicchu pueblo you can access the Inka citadel of Machupicchu by bus, Machu Picchu is undoubtedly the most expected attraction to not be missed by any traveller, no doubt it is one of the most outstanding tourist attraction in South America. The Inka city was hidden for centuries, Machupicchu amazes each visitor with its natural beauty and mystery. You will explore this site during the morning and in the afternoon, you will travel by train back to Cusco, transfer to the hotel.

DAY 05: Tour to Rainbow mountain

In the early morning, you will travel to see one of the best hidden natural treasures of Peru, the rainbow mountain which is located in the heart of the longest mountain range on the planet (7239 km), all who have visited this place agree that this place has a soul, magic and energy which makes the whole experience unique.

Beginning of the tour at 5:00am by car, we will travel for 3:00 hours until the sector called Llaqto, from this point we will begin the trekking towards the famous rainbow mountain for 2:00 hours, on the way we will observe lamas and alpacas, also local traditional people who keep the Andean culture alive. Arrival at the top 5200 m.a.s.l. observation of the splendid scenery and return to the starting point and then return to Cusco, arrival to Cusco 17.00 hours.

DAY 06: Cusco – Puno city

The route of the sun is one of the best ways to reach the city of Puno, where the Lake Titicaca (Aymara word for puma of stone) is the highest navigable lake in the world, along the way you can experience the change of Andean landscapes and altitudinal floors showing a magnificent contrast with the natural background.

In the afternoon check in at the hotel Conde de Lemos. Hotel overnight

Day 7: Puno – TICONA ISLAND

This is a day most expected for all our visitors, the visit to the Lake Titicaca, we will start in the town of Karina, point where we embark on our boats, you will see the majestic Lake Titicaca when sailing in traditional boat towards the island Ticonata, you will experience the sunset from this wonderful island, and in the evening a chance to observe the milk away where in this part of the world the Andean constellation are still clearly visible.

Day 8: CCOTOS – SAILI – LLACHON – FLOATING ISLAND “LOS UROS”

Today we will cross in sailboats towards the peninsula of Ccotos to the point where we begin a walk of approximately 4 hours passing by the Gulf of Siali and Páramis, observing unspoiled cultivated land and along with it different Aymara villages of the Peninsula of Capachica, arriving approximately at noon where our guide will give us a lecture of the traditions, culture and history of the Aymara villagers of Llachón.

14:00 pm, departure back to the Uros Floating Islands, finally we will uncover the mystery that is behind the construction, traditions and life of the Uros people who have been living in these conditions for centuries away from the modern world. After visiting los Uros we return back to Puno city. Transfer to hotel and overnight.

DAY 9: PUNO – CHIVAY

Today we head to Chivay, a cosy village in the Andes. On the way we will stop in Lagunillas, a great chance to spot the pink flamingos, also the Chucura volcano, lately we will cross the National Park reserve of Aguada Blanca to delight ourselves with the Vicunas, these beautiful creatures that have been highly venerated by pre-Colombian cultures. After we enjoy the scenery of different South American cameloids, we stop at the famous look out called the Mirador de volcanes of Patapampa, the name says exactly what we will see, several impressive volcanoes without activity surrounding the landscape.

Lunch will be in the Colca valley, also in the afternoon we will enjoy the thermal baths of the Calera famous for its medicinal properties.

Day 10: CRUZ DEL CONDOR – AREQUIPA

After a traditional breakfast in Chivay, we will visit the cross of the condor (the look out) to see the majestic flight of this largest flying bird in the world Andean Condor, with luck dozens of Condors will fly around the area astonishing the eyes of all visitors. On the way back to Arequipa we will do some stops to see the valley of volcanoes and snowy mountain picks, also in pampa Cañahuas a chance to see more natural wildlife as it is an ecological natural reserve.

Day 11: AREQUIPA – LIMA

After breakfast you will have a guided tour around the monumental centre of Arequipa well known as “white city”, which impresses and captivates hundreds of visitors with its imposing beauty.

At the indicated time transfer to the airport to travel with direction to the city of Lima.

Please note that we recommend international connection at night or the next day.

About Remaining Balance:

If you still have a remaining balance with Aita Peru Adventures at the time that you are travelling, you either can pay it in cash (without ripped notes) or with your credit card or debit card once arrive to Cusco City where is located Aita Peru Adventures main office.

About Passport & Visas:

Peru is one of the South American countries that don’t have a lot of regulation to receive visitors, you can visit as a tourist for 183 days, a lot of visitors from Europe and America don’t need Visa to enter to Peru just the passport that need to be valid for the time of the visit (better if it can be valid during the next 6 months after the visit)
